SUMMARY:Emancipation Celebration 2022 in Galveston
DESCRIPTION:EMANCIPATION CELEBRATION: The NIA Cultural Center to Celebrate Juneteenth through Gospel \nGALVESTON\, Texas (May 31\, 2022) – Join the Nia Cultural Center on June 17 for the Emancipation Celebration at the Grand Opera House located at 2020 Postoffice Street. The event will honor pioneers on the national and local level who have made their mark by fighting for freedom\, equality\, and justice for African Americans. This recognition will be highlighted with awards\, and gospel performances from local\, regional\, and national talent. \nThis signature event will kick off the weekend of activities leading up to commemoration of Juneteenth. The Emancipation Celebration invites locals and visitors across the United States to make their trek to Galveston for the annual parade\, festival\, Emancipation March and much more! \nThe Emancipation Celebration features GRAMMY nominated recording artist Marvin Sapp—senior pastor of the Chosen Vessel Cathedral in Fort Worth and Metropolitan Bishop that oversees upwards of 100 churches for the Central Deanery of Global United Fellowship. Members of the Gospel community say his voice is instantly recognizable with his characteristically raspy ring. Sapp is known for countless hits including “Never Would Have Made It\,” “The Best in Me\,” and more. He will be joined by gospel legend Neal Roberson\, one of the impressionable Men of God of the new millennium\, but an individual in his own right. Bishop Roberson has been widely recognized for his classic hit\, “Press My Way Through.” \nRounding off the event will be two amazing young performers—Keyla Richardson and Anthony Hall. An enthusiastic contemporary gospel performer\, Keyla Richardson is known for her dynamic praise and worship music. She initially gained widespread attention competing on season nine of BET’s Sunday Best show. In 2019\, she hit the gospel charts with her single\, “So Good.”  Anthony Hall is a Houston\, Texas based gospel artist who is bringing integrity back to an industry that is infamous for corrupting more careers rather than cultivating them. His chart-topping single\, “Miracle” is on airways everywhere. \nThe Emancipation celebration kicks-off at 7:00 p.m. with a special performance by the Galveston Youth Heritage Chorale led by June Collins Pulliam. Tickets are available for purchase at http://www.thegrand.com/. \nAbout the Nia Cultural Center \nThe Nia Cultural Center is a community-based non-profit agency incorporated in the State of Texas in 1992.
