There are no words that can express how sorry we are to learn about the death of one of our own. On the evening of Saturday, November 24, Raymond Wayne Hill passed from his long fight with heart disease. We were very stunned to hear this news and still can’t believe that it really happened. During this difficult moment, we want to remember Ray for his service not only to the station but to the community of Houston. He was an activist for LGBT issues, police and law enforcement issues, and prison issues. He was also the subject of multiple documentary films. His works and achievements have won him numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the ACLU of Texas, the Heritage Award from Houston Pride, Inc. and many more. He will most notably live on at the station for winning the hearts of members and listeners as a Host for various shows including The Prison show and Execution Watch. His impact on this station was profound and we will miss him dearly…

Funeral services for Ray Hill are slated for Sunday on the steps of Houston City Hall 901 Bagby St, Houston, TX 77002

Starting at 2 p.m., the event will feature speakers – including former mayor Annise Parker and free-for-all open mic in Hermann Square.
